It took 57 days.
Even after making the excellent 'Indivisible' RPG prototype available for free on both the PC and PS4, it still didn't look like Lab Zero would be able to hit their $1.5 million funding goal. But now, ahead of the 60 day deadline, that goal has been surpassed.
To be clear, the IndieGoGo campaign was originally 30 days, but was extended to 60 after the halfway funding point was reached. That last $500,000, however, was still a very slow build-up. All of that is in the past now. Since the campaign still has a few days to go, Lab Zero has even announced stretch goals, which involve the production aspects of music and opening animation. (Update: According to 505Games, Indiegogo’s "InDemand" feature allows crowdfunders to keep their campaign open as long as they’d like.)
See the campaign and those stretch goals here.
Publisher 505 Games has been set to match the campaign since it's onset. Though it will be awhile until the game is done (January 2018 estimate), judging by the prototype, it will be well worth the wait.
The 'Indivisible' Prototype:
In the 'Indivisible' prototype, players start out with Ajna, a combative female lead. When roaming around metroidvanie style, Anja enters battles in an action RPG way, with a classic side by side look, but with a frenetic combat that picks as Anja picks up party members.
Here's Anja after obtaining the axe, which is useful for both attacking and for reaching new areas.
In combat, each party member can be controlled individually, but it all happens fast. The L1 group block becomes very important when fighting tough enemies.
Get the free PC prototype here and the PS4 prototype here. It starts slow, so be sure to get a couple of party members before making a judgment. Also be sure that you fight plenty of enemies and get Razmi, the fourth party member, to where she can attack three times (level three meter) and learn how to use her heal ability before fighting the boss seen below:
The purpose of this free prototype is to show where this project is heading (some place special it seems so far). Check in on the Lab Zero and 505 Games here.
