Free for all 'Battlefront' players.
'Star Wars: Battlefront' is out now, but the Battle of Jakku will arrive free for all 'Battlefront' players next week. This battle is not just a 'Battlefront' setting, it's also a major tie-in for the new movie. Jakku occurs 29 years before 'Star Force: The Force Awakens,' and in theory, this battle between rebels and imperials has a major impact on the events of the story going forward.
This is major free content for a game with some ambitious paid DLC plans. I hope the response encourages EA to offer more free DLC.
Of course, there is a wrinkle. The Battle of Jakku will be free to all 'Battlefront' players come December 8th; however, those that preordered the game get to play the new level (really it's two different maps set in the battle) this week.
