3DS also getting new features.

In the past, Nintendo has been very resistant to adding certain online features to their platforms, and even now still carries on without a proper unified digital ownership plan for each customer. Even so, the company is becoming more and more comfortable taking advantage and planning for customers who favor digital ownership. In a series of statements, Nintendo is presenting a view of a digital future, and the most pressing feature involves 'Super Smash Bros.' for the Wii U. The new game, which is of major importance to the Nintendo, will be the first Wii U title to support pre-loading, which Nintendo is referring to as "pre-downloading."

The way the system will work is that customers will be able to download most of the game before release, and then will only need to download a very small amount of data upon release. This is otherwise known as "unlocking" a pre-ordered and pre-loaded title. This feature is not a one-off, and Nintendo has announced that pre-downloading will be coming to the 3DS in the future, and that download codes bought from merchants and physical stores will be eligible for pre-downloading.

Other digital marketplace features described by the big N include being able to buy titles directly from Nintendo.com and to even be able to remotely download purchases to the Wii U and 3DS through the SpotPass feature.
