For those who need that genuine arcade experience.
The officially licensed 'Pokkén Tournament' controller for Wii U is officially coming west, with an Amazon page currently accepting preorders and a published release date of March 18.
The controller design is based on the button layout of the 'Pokkén Tournament' arcade cabinet, which has been seen in Japanese arcades since July. The official controller is wired into the Wii U console via a USB port. Interested players can reserve their controller now for $25.
A couple of caveats accompany this specialized controller. The first is that it is designed only for 'Pokkén Tournament,' meaning you won't get much use of the controller outside of the one game. The second is that for local matches, Player One is required to use the Wii U GamePad due to the way the software works.
'Pokkén Tournament' is a Pokémon fighting game developed by Bandai Namco in the style of its 'Tekken' fighting game franchise. The Wii U version of the game is set to release in the spring.
