Launching today in UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
It has long been thought that the Xbox One's heavy focus on TV show related functions has been due to an overly heavy focus on the North American customer base. Well today, the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner launched in five European countries, and yet there has not been a single mention of a similar product for the US. Even so, seeing the product in action is impressive. Microsoft has made it seem simple to hook up and use, and the miniguide looks great. Much cooler though is the 30 minute live TV DVR functionality, which apparently works even while playing a game like 'Forza Horizon 2.'
And then there is the home network TV streaming through SmartGlass, which currently supports Windows and iOS. Android is promised as coming soon. Not only can TV be streamed to a tablet to watch in another room, but is even described as working while a game is running. To wit, a game can be played full screen while the Xbox One streams a TV program to the tablet.
The Xbox One Digital TV Tuner is available for £24.99 or €29.99 only from the Microsoft store.
