The telecommunications giant is set to release its first AT&T branded tablet.
AT&T has announced the release of its first self-branded tablet. The AT&T Trek HD is an Android tablet geared toward customers on a budget.
"The Trek HD is a big step forward for AT&T in terms of developing affordable products with premium features. Not only is this our first AT&T branded tablet, it’s the first tablet in our entire portfolio with Lollipop already installed, so when you buy the Trek HD you're getting the most advanced Android operating system at a great value – on the network with the nation's strongest 4G LTE signal,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Device Marketing and Developer Services at AT&T Mobility.
The Trek HD features an 8-inch HD display and a lightweight design. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a 1.6 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU and a 4060 mAh Lithium Ion battery running Android 5.0. A 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera are integrated as well. The device also includes 16GB of built-in storage and microSD support for up to 32GB of additional storage.
The AT&T Trek HD will be available for purchase at att.com on May 12 and at AT&T retail stores starting May 15. Pricing plans include $49.99 with a two-year agreement or $10 per month for 20 months with the AT&T Tablet Installment plan. Customers can also add the AT&T Trek HD to a new or existing Mobile Share Value plan for $10 per month.
