To the Moon and, well, maybe not back.
Prolific indie developer Renegade Kid strikes again with the download-only ‘Moon Chronicles’ for the 3DS eShop, releasing next week on May 15. What was originally a first-person shooter for the Nintendo DS simply called ‘Moon,’ this new version boasts improved, 3D-enhanced visuals at a surprising 60 frames per second.
‘Moon Chronicles’ is an atmospheric mystery on a certain orbiting body echoing the ‘Metroid Prime’ series, albeit planned to be released episodically. You’re Major Kane “on a mysterious mission to Earth’s moon to investigate a unique hatch of unknown origin,” according to Renegade Kid. The first four episodes represent the original game, while new story content is planned for 2015.
May 15 sees the release of Episode 1, called ‘One Small Step,’ as “Major Kane’s investigation quickly spirals into a desperate search for lost team members and the discovery of troubling evidence.”
The game will support both Circle Pad Pro and stylus-centric first-person controls.
