In development at Visceral Games
Visceral Games General Manager Steve Papoutsis took to the Battlefield Blog to officially announce 'Battlefield Hardline' after yesterday's rush of Battlelog leaks. The game is as previously expected – focused on cops and crime this time around instead of all-out warfare.
"On behalf of everyone at EA and Visceral Games, I’m fired up to confirm our next project – Battlefield Hardline," writes Papoutsis. "This is a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals."
A full seven-minute trailer leaked online as well, detailing both the multiplayer and singleplayer portions of the game. Check it out: [It's been pulled, but Polygon kept a copy.]
This marks the first time the 'Battlefield' franchise has been in the hands of anyone but DICE, which is to say it's now officially an EA series. Visceral Games, the new lead, is best known for the 'Dead Space' series, and clearly has a few new ideas for the long-running 'Call of Duty' competitor.
Papoutsis when on to say more information will be shared on June 9, the day of EA's E3 press conference, though the trailer above may very well be what he's referring to. For now, the official 'Battlefield Hardline' site is up and running.
