The advanced iPad model starts shipping this week!
Apple has announced the official launch date for its new iPad. The iPad Pro will be available online through Apple.com starting this Wednesday, November 11. In addition, the tablet will hit Apple Stores and select retailers later this week.
"The early response to iPad Pro from app developers and our customers has been incredible, and we’re excited to get iPad Pro into the hands of customers around the world this week," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "iPad Pro is the most powerful iPad we’ve ever made, giving users the ability to be even more creative and more productive with the epic 12.9-inch Retina display, powerful 64-bit A9X chip and groundbreaking Apple Pencil and new Smart Keyboard. We can’t wait to see what they do with iPad Pro."
As previously reported, the device features a 12.9-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2732 x 2048 for a total of 5.6 million pixels, and measures 6.9mm thin and weighs 1.57 lbs. Under the hood, the iPad Pro is powered by Apple's new A9X chip, which is 1.8x faster than the previous generation A8X chip. An 8MP iSight camera and an HD FaceTime camera are integrated as well. In addition, the tablet includes a four-speaker audio system that can balance sound output depending on how the user is holding the device. The iPad Pro also supports new accessories like a smart keyboard attachment and the Apple Pencil, the company's advanced stylus. Finally, battery life is rated for 10-hours of use.
The Apple iPad Pro will start at $799 for the 32GB Wi-Fi model and $1,079 for the 128GB model with LTE. The Apple Pencil ($99) and the Smart Keyboard ($169) will also be available to order starting November 11.
