Both version 1.4 and 1.5D of the arcade ROM will be included.
Microsoft has some interesting plans for the new 'Killer Instinct,' not the least the of which is the $20 all eight initial characters unlocked offer that was sent to multiple Xbox Live users. Beyond that of course there is the single character (Jago) free edition included with the Xbox One, and the$40 Ultra version. Along with these different versions is the promise of new seasonal content such as an old school arcade progression mode.
But setting that all aside, the Ultra version includes not one but two different versions of the original arcade game, now called 'Killer Instinct Classic,' that as of now only will come with the Ultra version.
From producer Torin Retting, "Killer Instinct Classic is a complete port of the original Killer Instinct arcade game, and you can ONLY get it with the Ultra Edition of Killer Instinct. In fact it is a complete port of TWO versions of the Killer Instinct arcade game. It includes the original arcade ROM (v1.4) with all of the classic, fan-favorite glitches, and the revised version (v1.5D) that came out later to fix things like Cinder’s infinite combo. In addition to this we’ve added cool extras like a training mode, frame effects like scan lines to emulate a CRT and galleries of the original sprites."
Sadly though, the 'Killer Instinct Classic' mode, which is basically a pure ROM with a few tweaks, will not support online play, though that may change in future.
