Program will allow players to try-out and seek achievements in both the 360 and Xbox One versions of certain titles.
As the Xbox One launch approaches, many Xbox 360 owners will face a choice between purchasing a 360 or Xbox One version of certain new games. GameStop has announced that through its PowerUp Rewards program that players can essentially try-out the 360 versions of certain titles and then trade them in for the Xbox One versions for a fee of $10 per game.
From GameStop, "GameStop is offering PowerUp Rewards members a special, limited time opportunity to receive a $50 guaranteed minimum credit for select standard edition Xbox 360 titles when a member upgrades to the new Xbox One standard version of that title."
This program will apply to five specific games, including 'Call of Duty®: Ghosts,' 'Madden NFL 25,' 'FIFA 14,' 'Battlefield 4,' and 'Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.' For the five games that the promotion applies to, 360 owners will have the option to upgrade, provided that they are PowerUp Members.
"To qualify for this offer, a customer must be a PowerUp Rewards member at the time they purchase a new eligible Xbox 360 title(s) within 30 days of its initial release and then trade that game at any U.S. GameStop location for the new Xbox One standard version of that same game. Following the purchase of an eligible current generation title, members will receive the guaranteed $50.00 trade-credit coupon via email and in their PowerUp Rewards Active Offers. Redemption of the coupon must occur by December 31, 2013. Offer is for a limited time only and may end without notice."
This program may actually be the most attractive for some achievement fanatics. Microsoft recently revealed that players are welcome to earn the same achievement in both the 360 and Xbox One versions of each game separately.
