The roguelike game was one of the few indies promoted for the Xbox One.
Capybara Games, known for their popular 'Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP,' have issued a statement regarding their upcoming Xbox One game, 'Below.' 'Below' was one the games featured in Microsoft's E3 press conference, and this has lead to questions for Capybara.
From Capybara Games, "because of the way the game was announced & discussed in the press, there was naturally a little bit of confusion after the dust settled. And that confusion stuck around. So, to clear things up, we wanted to take a quick second and answer your number one question:
"Like many games on stage at E3, Below will be available on the Xbox One first. Then, after a period of time, CAPY can bring it elsewhere."
The reason for the clarification by Capybara Games would seem to be to rid the indie of platform wars-like questioning. "We’ve said it many times before, but it is worth repeating: working with Microsoft Studios has been great, and they deserve real kudos for putting our dreamy roguelike-inspired game of exploration and discovery in the spotlight at E3… and we are certain they’ll continue to do more of that going forward. This clarification is about answering our fans, and shouldn’t reflect negatively on Microsoft or Xbox One – they’ve been the biggest CAPY supporters out there"
Time will tell if 'Below' will be a hit, but being a major success on the Xbox One at the console's launch would still limit the audience compared with the game also being available on iOS and PC.
