Indie launch game is an early PS4 standout.
You may have heard that not one but two PS4 launch titles have been taken off the launch roster, and while there other big AAA games that seek your combined monies, one of the indie launch games is a game that shouldn't be missed. 'Super Motherload' builds on the success of XGen Studios 'Motherload,' in much the same way that an automobile builds on the success of a horse-drawn cart.
The player controls a Wall-E sized excavation vehicle, and must drill down to extract potent ore while balancing out the excavation vehicle's ore capacity, fuel, and hull strength. The little vehicle must return to the surface to sell ore, get repairs, fuel, and upgrades. It's a good thing then that in addition to tiny tank treads the vehicle can blast upwards and hover at a great cost of fuel.
'Super Motherload' is more than ore extraction, with a up to four players playing side-by-side with different pilot characters. As the players drill down into Mars, the mysteries of once-thriving planet will be revealed.
From XGen Studios,
Mars.
The near future.
The Solarus Corporation discovered an infinite source of rare and precious minerals deep in the red crust. Resources that will end the energy crisis on Earth and fuel the deep space expeditions planned as population swells beyond capacity.
Constructing magnificent surface bases, Solarus’ early mining endeavors resulted in returns of wealth beyond measure. Delving deeper they installed new facilities and recruited more adventurous technicians and operators seeking to expand their empire.
Then, one day, Mars went silent.
Cut off from their people, Solarus sent new recruits to continue operations and restore communications. You are such a recruit and with Mars growing closer by the hour, you sense that all is not right on the Red Planet.
Can you uncover the mysteries of Mars or will her secrets be your undoing?
Good luck, employee 1001.
