Interactive broadcasting feature being touted.
Sony has announced that following the Japanese launch a little over a week ago, the PlayStation 4's worldwide sales have surpassed six million units. Further numbers provided by Sony show that 90% of PS4s in the US are online, while in total there have been more over 3.5 million live PS4 broadcasts and some 56 million spectate sessions combined on the PS4 through Twitch and Ustream.
Along with the sales milestone, Sony reminded the public that one less publicized PS4 feature is beginning to be utilized by developers and that is the interactive live broadcasting feature, wherein broadcasted gameplay is interactive for spectators. The PS4 version of 'Tomb Raider' has this feature, but Sony's most recent example is this week's PS4 PS Plus game, 'Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition.'
"For example, Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition features a built-in Broadcast+ mode where you can stream your gameplay while viewers on the PS4 or a web browser influence positive and negative effects during gameplay... Even as a viewer, you can now influence livestreamed gameplay."
