The exploit has since been fixed and the game should be safe again.
Some players logging in to their 'World of Warcraft' accounts on Sunday were met with a big surprise. They'd appear in their starting city as usual and then instantly die. It's the second bit that's unusual. As it turns out, a hacker was going from realm to realm insta-killing anyone and everyone around. Stormwind was a massacre and Orgrimmar became a massive pile of bones.
The folks at Blizzard responded quickly, found how the player was exploiting the system and hotfixed the game so the hack no longer works. While this isolated incident was fairly harmless – many players were even excited to take part in such a unique event – it does raise questions about the future security and integrity of the game.
