In 'Wii Sports Club,' new features come with a new pricing scheme.
Few people doubt that much of the Nintendo Wii's success was due to one hit product, 'Wii Sports,' which was bundled with the Wii for its North American launch. By comparison, the Wii U has been said to be missing that equivalent product that might entice whole families to purchase and play with others, in turn convincing them to purchase a Wii U. 'Nintendo Land' has proved not to be that product, and Nintendo is returning to the 'Wii Sports' well with 'Wii Sports Club.'
From Nintendo, "The five beloved sports from the original Wii Sports – bowling, tennis, baseball, boxing and golf – are making a dramatic and competitive return on Wii U."
Not only are the games getting an HD upgrade, but they will now make use of Wii MotionPlus technology of the kind that debuted with 'Wii Sports Resort.' Likewise, the games will now support both online multiplayer, and a new "Club" feature, which organizes palyers regionally for the sake of social competition.
While all the upgrades makes sense and may even seem long overdue, the pricing structure is less straight-forward. The five games will be available individually for download. The games can be played for one 24-hour period, after which day passes will be available for $2. Alternatively, the game's can be purchased for download outright for $10 a piece.
Tennis and Bowling will be the first two 'Wii Sports Club' games released in the Nintendo eShop on Nov. 7, with Boxing, Baseball, and Golf promised to release later on.
