The half million consoles are all of GameStop's preorder allocation, but when coupled with the games, denote a 2.4 attach rate or nearly double what the Wii had at launch states GameStop.
The console preorders were snatched up in September almost as soon as they were available, but the game preorders are a separate strong indication of interest in the new console's launch.
Gamasutra cites the Wii U's third party line-up as the difference maker in the stronger attach rate when compared to the Wii's launch.
