More details have been unveiled about LG's forthcoming display lineup at CES.
At its CES press conference yesterday, LG announced estimated prices and release dates for several of its upcoming Ultra HD and OLED TV models. Likewise, the company also provided details on its webOS platform for Smart TVs.
Let's begin with the 105UC9, LG's mammoth sized 105-inch ultra-wide 21:9 curved-screen Ultra HD TV. The 5120 x 2160p LCD display will retail for about $70,000, though a release period has not been revealed yet. Next, is LG's 77-inch 77EC9800 curved-screen 4K OLED which will retail for about $30,000 and is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2014. Leaving Ultra HD behind, the flat-screen Gallery EA8800 55-inch 1080p OLED TV will cost about $9,000 and should be available in the US this spring.
In addition to its new TV lineup, LG also announced details about its new webOS Smart TV system. The platform was purchased from Hewlett Packard last year and redeveloped by LG for its TVs. The new interface is aimed at offering consumers a seamless and intuitive experience, providing user-friendly navigation, multi-tasking, and improved searching and connectivity.
"We are extremely excited to be able to introduce webOS optimized for LG Smart TV here at CES 2014" said In-kyu Lee, Senior Vice President and head of the TV division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. "The beauty of webOS is that it provides so much freedom, and is so simple to use. We feel confident that consumers will find navigating, exploring and switching between different forms of content on webOS a truly enjoyable, not frustrating, experience."
All of LG's latest innovations and products are now on display in the company's booth at CES in Las Vegas.
