Seems the big boat won't be sinking after all, at least in high-def, as Warner Home Video has quietly pulled next week's planned HD DVD release of 'Poseidon' from its schedule.
Originally due to set sail on December 5, 'Poseidon' was one of the most eagerly-awaited HD DVD titles of the holiday season. Though the $150 million-budgeted Wolfgang Petersen thriller was largely considered a box office bomb this past summer, the high-def release was anticipated due to the inclusion of a Dolby TrueHD track, as well as exclusive HD extras including an "In-Movie Experience" interactive video commentary.
Unfortunately, Warner has now delayed the release indefinitely with no new date set at press time. The studio has also removed the listing for 'Poseidon' off of its official media and retail website.
We hope to receive word from Warner soon on a potential new date for the release, and in the meantime we've moved the title to the "Release Date Postponed" section of our HD DVD Release Schedule. Stay tuned.
