Led by the all-time classics 'Casablanca' and 'Forbidden Planet,' Warner will add six titles total on November 14 to its ever-expanding Blu-ray and HD DVD libraries.
Hitting HD DVD simultaneously and day-and-date with the standard-def DVD, 'Forbidden Planet' will be a first title ever to hit either next-gen format in a deluxe collector's box set. Billed as the "Ultimate Anniversary Edition," Warner will package the title in a "stunning metal case" that includes the HD DVD, a collectible Robby the Robot replica with moveable limbs, 'Forbidden Planet' and 'The Invisible Boy' reproduction lobby cards portfolio, as well as a 'Forbidden Planet' original theatrical poster mail-in offer.
Additional titles to debut on HD DVD include the first undisputed classic to hit a next-gen format, 'Casablanca,' along with the 1962 version of 'Mutiny on the Bounty' starring Marlon Brando.
And hitting Blu-ray for the first time on November 14 will be 'ATL,' 'The Last Samurai' and 2004 Best Picture Oscar winner 'Million Dollar Baby.'
All six releases will include 1080p/VC-1 video transfers, and extras comparative to their standard-def DVD counterparts. Audio specs and box cover art have yet to be revealed, but stay tuned.
Warner has set a suggested $28.95 list price for all titles except 'ATL,' which will retail for $34.95, and the 'Forbidden Planet' Anniversary Edition, which will set you back a cool $59.95.
