Official SDK on the way for the 'Saints Row' series.
A group of modders that have been working to enable community modifications for both 'Saints Row 2' and 'Saints Row 3' have scored some major support in the form of Jeff Thompson, Volition's studio director of programming.
Not only is Thompson sharing information with the modders in order to sharpen up modding options for 'Saints Row: The Third,' but Volition at large is supporting the effort and working towards developing an official SDK. Even 'Saints Row 2' is expected to benefit from this surprising decision by the developer.
From modder IdolNinja, "In simple terms, the modding community will finally be able to create and offer new clothing, new vehicles, new guns, new NPCs, new missions, and even new world geometry which will greatly extend the life of the series and enhance the Saints Row games in ways we never even dared to dream of."
The entire effort is part of a promising test run for the new game, 'Saints Row IV.' If successful, the passionate 'Saints Row' modding community could completely change the nature of series and even serve as an example for other series by encouraging organized modding and community developed DLC.
'Saints Row: The Third' for the PC is available now from Amazon. 'Saints Row IV' is expected to release in August and is available for pre-order.
