Making a rare "pre-announce," Universal says it is planning an early Spring HD DVD bow for the Tom Hanks-Julia Roberts hit 'Charlie Wilson's War.'
Although the studio stopped short of issuing an exact street date for the Mike Nichols-directed political satire (which is currently winding down its run in theaters), it's promising an HD DVD/DVD Combo edition sometime in April, day-and-date with a matching standard DVD.
There are no tech specs yet, but both versions are set to share a pair of featurettes, "The Making of Charlie Wilson's War," and "Who is Charlie Wilson?" featuring interviews with cast & crew including Hanks, Roberts, co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman and Nichols).
The HD DVD version also promises to include as-yet-unannounced exclusive features. Needless to say, we'll keep you posted.
Universal has set a suggested list price of $39.98 for the HD DVD/DVD combo.
While we await a final street date and complete details for 'Charlie Wilson's War,' we've added a listing for the title in the "Release Dates Pending" section of our HD DVD Release Schedule. Stay tuned!
