The platform's streaming content is now available through several media devices.
Twitter has announced the release of its new streaming app for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Xbox One. The apps offer access to live video content, tweets, and more.
"These devices will bring Twitter's live streaming video experience to life on the TV screen," said Anthony Noto, chief financial officer at Twitter. "Twitter has always been a great complement to TV, and now fans can enjoy even more premium video with live Tweets — and the best content on Twitter — right from their TVs. We're excited to introduce this new experience to people, without requiring a paywall or having to log in to Twitter."
The new Twitter apps features all of the platform's live streaming content, including 10 NFL Thursday Night Football games, as well as content from MLB Advanced Media, NBA, Pac 12 Networks, Campus Insiders, Cheddar and Bloomberg News. Likewise, users also get access to additional Twitter content like top Tweets, global Vines, and Periscopes. And as an added bonus, the Apple TV app includes an exclusive side-by-side video feature, allowing viewers to enjoy live premium video and check out Tweeted video clips at the same time.
Twitter's new app for the Apple TV (4th generation) is now available globally through the App Store. Likewise, the Twitter app for Xbox One is now rolling out to customers in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Finally, the app is also now available for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick in the United States and the United Kingdom. The app is free on all platforms and users do not need a Twitter account or a cable or satellite subscription to watch HD streams.
