It plays most video files, it's 1080p capable, and it's dirt cheap.
Remember the excitement over the potential of the Zune HD? It was a pocket sized player, we were told, that would let us send video directly to our TVs. And it did that, just not quite as well as we had hoped. The new player from Amex Digital on the other hand, seems to be the answer.
It's a tiny player, coming in at under 7 inches long and weighing just half a pound. It doesn't have any onboard storage, but it's got a USB port and an SD card slot for file playback. It'll play just about anything you throw at it too, though sadly, ISO support isn't listed.
Perhaps the best thing about the MP-501 is the cost. You get a fully 1080p capable, HDMI stocked media player plus a remote for $49. International shipping comes in at $20. That's about as good as you could ask for.
You'll be able to pick up the MP-501 starting September 10.
