PSN Demo nets users free weapon DLC.
A demo for 'Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII' drops today ahead of the February 11th release. 360 Gold members can download the demo today while sliver members will need to wait a week. Those who download the PS3 version will net DLC for use in the release, and this DLC will be sold later.
"As a special bonus, players who download the PlayStation®Network demo will automatically receive the Utsusemi Garb DLC, which includes the Heavenly Fan weapon and the Kaminari (meaning 'Lightning' in Japanese) shield item. The DLC pack will download with the demo and will be unlocked in the full retail game on February 11. The DLC pack will also be available to purchase for other customers later this year.
"The demo puts players in control of Lightning as she traverses the chaos-infested Yusnaan palace of her old ally, Snow. Players will experience Lightning’s new customization options and master the game’s completely overhauled battle system. For those who activate the Outerworld services and submit their battle scores of the final fight against Zaltys, the 'Siegfried' outfit will be unlocked in the full retail game."
The Siegfried outfit from 'Final Fantasy VI' is exclusive to this demo, so 'Final Fantasy' fans have a special motivation to use the demo's Outerworld social service.
Square Enix has also announced that the Spira's Summoner outfit will be included as an exclusive pre-order bonus for Amazon. It will also be available for purchase later.
In summary:
The demo is available. For free, of course.
Just for playing, you get the PS3 exclusive DLC — Utsusemi Samurai garb. Again, for free.
Just for posting your score after the final battle, you’ll get more free DLC. As a note, this DLC will never be available aside from doing this.
If you’ve forgotten, just for pre-ordering, you unlock Final Fantasy history with Cloud Strife’s SOLDIER 1st Class Uniform.
