New trailer teases game for the PC, PS4, and "other next generation consoles."
Ever since 'Thief: Deadly Shadows' was released back in 2004, series' fans have been waiting for a new installment. With Square Enix slowly but surely resurrecting some of the IPs acquired over the last decade, including 'Tomb Raider,' 'Hitman,' and Eidos Montreal's 'Deus Ex: Human Revolution,' a new 'Thief' had been promised, and now begins its marketing in earnest.
The game is powered by Unreal 3, and has been described as a reboot of the franchise. The game retains the series' first person perspective and setting in the fictional 'The City,' but will have to manage with a new voice actor for the protagonist for reasons not dissimilar to a recent trend of signature voice actor shake-ups.
There have been three previous 'Thief' titles, but this is the first one to be named simply 'Thief.' Thief' is expected next year for the PC, PS4, and Xbox 360 successor and is available for pre-order.
