Sony BMG has announced a street date and specs for the John Mayer concert film 'Where the Light Is,' which will hit Blu-ray this July with a host of next-gen exclusives.
As previously reported, Sony had revealed plans to bring a previously-untitled John Mayer concert (recorded live at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre in December 2007) to Blu-ray sometime later this year, but stopped short of issuing any further details or even a street date.
Now the distributor has issued the full media announcement for 'John Mayer: Where the Light Is,' which will hit Blu-ray on July 1 (day-and-date with the DVD) as one of Sony's most advanced next-gen releases yet.
Spanning 22 tracks, 'Where the Light Is' features three sets: an acoustic performance, a rare set with the John Mayer Trio (John Mayer, Steve Jordan, and Pino Palladino), as well as a set featuring Mayer’s full-band.
Captured with eight cameras and shot on Super35 film, the Blu-ray will feature 1080p/24fps video, plus audio options in PCM 2.0 Stereo (98kHz/24-bit) and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (96kHz/24-bit).
Exclusive to the BLu-ray is a picture-in-picture "experience" with musicians Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino (Bonus View enabled), as well as BD-Live content including a backstage performance of "Belief."
Featured on both the Blu-ray and DVD is a bonus "Mulholland Drive" acoustic performance.
Retail for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.95.
You'll find specs for 'John Mayer: Where the Light Is' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under July 1.
