Broadway is coming to high-def, with Sony Pictures setting an early-February Blu-ray date for the rock opera 'Rent.'
The acclaimed portrait of starving artists in New York who face poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic, 'Rent' is based on Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning musical, and one of the longest running shows on Broadway.
Sony will debut 'Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway' on Blu-ray February 3, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Tech specs will see the 152-minute feature presented on a BD-50 dual-layer disc in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.78:1) with English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio.
Extras include a suite of six featurettes ("The Wall," "The Final Curtain," "Home," "The Final Lottery," "Casting," "Rent: The Final Days on Broadway"), and a pair of PSAs.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $28.95.
