Annette Bening's Golden Globe-nominated performance in 'Running With Scissors' is set to make the leap to Blu-ray this February, courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
The studio says the film will be available on a 50GB dual-layer Blu-ray Disc, day and date with the standard-def DVD on February 6, 2007.
Adapted from the best-selling memoir by Augusten Burroughs, 'Scissors' is billed as a "tragicomedy" focusing on the author's upbringing as the only child of an alcoholic father (Alec Baldwin) and a bipolar, failed-poet mother (Bening). In addition to Bening and Baldwin, the film's ensemble cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Jill Clayburgh and Evan Rachel Wood.
Announced specs include a 1080p/MPEG-2 video transfer, an uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround track, and a direct port of three featurettes from the standard-def release: "Inside Outsiders," focusing on the cast; "A Story by Augusten Burroughs," featuring a new interview with the author/subject; and "Creating the Cuckoo's Nest," which looks at the film's unusual production design.
Sony has set the retail price for 'Running With Scissors' on Blu-ray at $38.96.
We've added a listing for the film under Feb 6, 2007 to our updated Blu-ray release schedule, which currently contains more than four times the number of announced releases of its HD DVD counterpart. Impressive, Blu-ray....
