Not to be left out of the 3D race, Sharp has announced the creation of four-color 3D LCD sets.
This holiday season will reveal a lot about the consumer market. Specifically, we’ll find out whether 3D in the home is really going to take off or not. Some companies, like Samsung and Panasonic, are betting heavily on the new tech. Sharp has been a bit more hesitant when it comes to 3D televisions, but they’re still hedging their bets.
In fact, Sharp says that the new RGBY display they’ve developed is the best 3D set out there. For starters, it’s almost twice as bright as any other set. That’s important, says Sharp, since it helps to create more accurate colors.
Crosstalk is at an all time low with Sharp’s displays. If you’ve tried out 3D displays, you’ve probably seen that horrible ghosting that comes along with them. That’s crosstalk. Sharp says that a combination of a better set and better glasses means less crosstalk.
There’s nothing set in stone for a release date or pricing, but expect to see Sharp bring something out by this winter.
