Their partner in the project, RealD, is looking for someone to pick up where Samsung left off.
Manufacturers still aren't on one page when it comes to 3D. The debate between active and passive technologies goes on, and it's going to keep going on for the foreseeable future.
We had a glimmer of hope though, in a project that was being worked on by Samsung and technology leader RealD. They planned to create TVs that could be used by people with active 3D glasses and passive 3D glasses alike.
Today the folks at RealD announced that the project would no longer be moving forward. Apparently RealD's revised license agreement didn't meet with Samsung's approval and the TV maker has stepped away.
RealD is now searching out new companies to partner with.
