The large-screen tablet will be available from AT&T this Friday.
AT&T has announced plans to offer the Galaxy View with its mobile service. The 18.4-inch tablet is geared toward streaming video and is now the largest Android mobile device on the market.
"The Samsung Galaxy View is the best parts of a TV and tablet, designed with entertainment as its primary focus," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Device Marketing and Developer Services, AT&T Mobility. "We know our customers are watching video in ways they never used to, and with this tablet you can shift where and when content is consumed. No other Samsung device provides this combination of integrated entertainment experience and value."
As previously reported, the Galaxy View features an 18.4-inch touchscreen display with a Full HD resolution of 1920x1080 and a versatile 2-way stand. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a 1.6Ghz octa-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage all running Android 5.1. A 2.1 MP front camera and high quality stereo speakers are integrated as well. Finally, the device's 5700mAh battery is rated for up to eight hours of video playback.
AT&T will begin selling the Samsung Galaxy View on November 20. The tablet will be available for $0 down for well-qualified customers and $30 per month for 20 months with the AT&T Tablet Installment Plan or for $499.99 with a two-year agreement. In addition, for a limited time, customers that sign up for a new 24-month DIRECTV subscription can purchase the Galaxy View for $99.99, with a two-year wireless agreement. Likewise, existing DIRECTV customers that activate a new line with a smartphone on AT&T Next can also buy the Galaxy View for $99.99 with a two-year wireless agreement.
Finally, the Galaxy View is currently available without AT&T's mobile service for $599.99.
