It's a shame when a publication shuts down, but it's even worse when it's a magazine that many gamers grew up with.
If you're over, say, 25 or so then you remember a time when videogame magazines were everywhere. They were the go-to place for news, reviews, hints, tips and editorial about the industry, but the landscape is quite a bit different now.
Many of the big magazines we remember from our youth are gone and now GamePro is joining them. After a 22 year run, the company is shutting down consumer game coverage completely. The magazine is shutting down and the website is going with it.
It's a shame to see such a longstanding publication shut down and it's even worse to know that so many quality writers, artists and editors are out of a job. From all of us at High-Def Digest, we're sad to see GamePro go and we hope everyone affected by the closure will land on their feet and move on to bigger and better things.
