PSP, DS, 3DS and Wii outsold the Vita last week.
The PlayStation Vita had a fairly strong opening week. At launch, nearly 325,000 units were sold, nearly equaling the 3DS in first week numbers. What happened last week though, was quite the surprise.
It's not surprising that sales decreased on the week following the system's launch, but only 72,000 Vitas made it off of store shelves in the final pre-Christmas weekend. That a 78% drop which is quite unusual for a piece of hardware. By comparison, the 3DS had a 45% drop in sales the week after launch.
Even more surprising are the systems currently beating the Vita. The 3DS is selling more, as are the Wii and PS3, but the PSP makes the list as well. 101,000 were sold last week - not even a close fight.
Just what this means for the future of the Vita we'll have to wait and see. They PlayStation 3 did pretty poorly the week after launch too, so perhaps the Vita will pull up after all.
