This impressive number brings Child's Play up over $10 million in donations since its inception.
There has been a tremendous outpour of support for the Child's Play charity this year, with over $1.5 million in donated money and products coming in as of December 7th. It's an incredible display of charity from the gaming community and it puts Child's Play at a pace to beat last year's record.
Child's Play, for those that aren't familiar, is a charity that aims to help out by making life just a little more fun for some kids that really need it. Games, toys and books are donated to hospitals and therapy facilities across the country, giving children with serious illnesses something to lift their spirits and help them to forget they're in a hospital for a while - a bit of an escape.
Last year's total for donations was $2.3 million and this year could well beat that number. "Something else to consider," says Penny Arcade president of operations Robert Khoo, "is that as of this week, the community has now collectively raised over $10,000,000 for Child’s Play."
That's 10 million dollars going to help put smiles on faces in hospitals across the country and all from the gaming community. If that's not a fine example of the 'ol Christmas spirit we don't know what is.
