Almost 50,000 units have sold through Kickstarter, which could translate into some very healthy console sales down the line.
The Ouya may not be the next generation ultra high definition gaming console that the hardcore crowd is looking for, but it definitely changes things up. Thanks to its open source nature and requirement for developers to offer demos for their games, not to mention its low price tag, the Ouya has been grabbing a great deal of attention.
The Kickstarter campaign, which was aimed at nabbing just under a million dollars, ended up with $8,580,682 in funding. Ouya also added some partners, announced XBMC for the console and plenty more. It's been a good month for the folks behind the system.
Now that the Kickstarter has ended, Ouya is offering systems up for preorder. $109 gets you the system and a controller, $139 adds a second controller and $199 equips you with four controllers. You can pick it up now directly from Ouya
