The German game conference is losing out on a few big names due to release date schedules.
There are a few different gaming events each year that we expect to see different game companies attend and Gamescom is one of the big ones. Think of it as a European post-E3 that allows publishers and developers to show off some of their titles a little bit closer to release.
This year though, some of the big names won’t be there. Both THQ and SEGA say that they won’t have any Gamescom presence, with SEGA citing an issue with their AAA release schedule. THQ is almost certainly in the same boat, as their biggest game this year, ‘Darksiders II’ is set to release right around the same time as the show.
Interestingly enough, Blizzard, which has pulled the plug on Blizzcon this year and never attends E3, is still planning to attend the conference.
