Handheld 'Arkham' game looking excellent.
'Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate' is more than just a handheld version of 'Batman: Arkham Origins,' it is the smart approach to bringing the best of the 'Arkham' titles to a portable system like the PS Vita.
The different approach means giving the developer the time and freedom to boil down the 'Arkham' games to their essence, the feeling of being Batman and facing both the bottom-level thug and high-level rogue with gadgets, stealth, fists, and Dark Knight-y righteousness.
And that is why this game takes the fight out of the open city and into Blackgate, where the most can be made of confined space, not unlike the original 'Batman: Arkham Asylum.' The game's semi-static cut scenes, and 2.5D approach appear to result in more than just the some of their parts, which is what gamers should expect from the ex-Rare devs at Armature Studios.
