The first of several development diaries, 'Hush' relates how a fungus can destroy society.
'The Last of Us' has captivated fans of Naughty Dog and of AAA games in general since its introduction, and the developer has pegged Area 5 to stoke interest while providing insight through a series of developer diaries. The first installment, 'Hush' covers the visual and conceptual character design for the title's baseline infected.
In addition to the character design details, is the working concept for the game's supposition. Neil Druckmann, Creative Director, in discussing the fungus refers to it like a malevolent force, "In what interesting ways would it (the fungus) take over a human body and then force it to spread that infection." While Bruce Straley, Game Director, touches on how humans in the game react to that malevolent force, "We want to see what kind of choices a human makes under that kind of pressure."
While much of the video merely teases the game environment that Naughty Dog has been creating, the company has promised that extended cuts of the diaries will be available via game disc, which seems reminiscent of the 'Uncharted' series.
'The Last of Us' is due out June 14 for the PS3.
