Twenty bonus levels help power the Wii U version.
'Mutant Mudds' gained quite a following when it originally released for the 3DS. Since that time, the game has been ported to Windows and to iOS. The retro styled platformer and shooter has carried its Virtual Boy-style multi-layered gameplay across versions, gaining fans and rep with each jump. 'Mutant Mudds Deluxe' is the "deluxe" version of the game only for the Wii U.
The deluxe version adds twenty levels to the prior sixty (the original base game plus DLC), and the developer, Renegade Kid, has promised additional chiptunes, and power-ups to go along with the new levels. The checkpoint system from the iOS seems to be part of the package as well, and this is a game that demands off-screen play support.
'Mutant Mudds' is side-scroller, but the game originally began life as an third person shooter. The developer's other titles 'Dementium' and 'Moon' were both shooters for the DS, but the formulae had to change for 'Mutant Mudds.' Still the combination of shooting and jumping has bred a cult following, which was actually sustained when the game came to iOS. With the Wii U version on the way, can a sequel be far off?
