There's finally a tiny bit of extra incentive to get all those achievements. Very tiny.
Way back when the Xbox 360 first launched, Microsoft and Old Spice got together to give out free pictures and games for those that raised their Gamerscore by a certain amount. It was a cool promotion but there was never any followup, which Microsoft says was due to a lack of demand by customers.
Now, years later, there's finally another reason to keep that score up – one other than feelings of self-worth and rubbing it in your friends faces. Microsoft is offering rebates to those with high scores, but the rebates aren't much. If you have a score of 10,000 or more, you'll get one percent back on all purchases. Those with 25,000 or more will get two percent back. Anyone over 3,000 will get a free gift on their birthday, but no word yet on what that is.
