Flash sale on PSN and upcoming for XBLA prior to expiring licenses.
Digital games and digital content (DLC) are more than just a fad these with digital game purchases spiking to an all-time high. Unfortunately, one of the oldest business practices, that of un-renewed license, is rearing its ugly head. According to Capcom, all content for 'Marvel Vs. Capcom 2' and 'Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3' will be leaving both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
That means that the digital version of 'Marvel Vs. Capcom 2' will no longer be available to purchase on PSN and XBLA. Likewise, the digital version of 'Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3' for the Xbox 360, and PS Vita will no longer be available for purchase. 'Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3,' a disc-only game on the PS3, has both DLC characters and costumes that will no longer be available to purchase on all platforms.
Those who have already purchased these games and their DLC or purchase while they are still available will continue to be able to download the content after it is pulled from the marketplace.
From Capcom,

- Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 – PS3 / 360
- Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 – PSN / XBLAWe currently have a sale going on PSN which will allow you a last chance opportunity to get DLC for these games, at a 50% discount. Stay tuned for details about any sales on XBLA.
The last day DLC content for these titles will be available is:
- 12/17 for PSN in North America
- 12/19 for PSN in EuropeThe last day DLC content for these titles will be available is:
- 12/17 for PSN in North America
- 12/19 for PSN in Europe
- 12/26 for XBLA globally
The likely culprit for the removal of the digital content is an expiring agreement between Capcom and Marvel rights holder, Disney.
PSN content can be purchased with PSN cards and XBLA content can be purchased with XBLA dollars.
'Marvel Vs. Capcom 2' has historical been a valuable game once it has gone out print and is only $7.50 on PSN right now ($3.75 for PS Plus members).
