Specs, price, and date, for the Tegra 4 powered console.
Mad Catz has shared details on their long-rumored M.O.J.O Micro-Console for Android, which launches this December. The console pairs the living room with a traditional cotroller with mouse mode, a Nvidia Tegra 4, and a player's choice of Android marketplaces.
From Darren Richardson, President and CEO of Mad Catz, "The M.O.J.O. Micro-Console for Android has attracted strong interest due to its high-performance hardware, open software platform and the ecosystem of accessories. M.O.J.O. is the center piece of our GameSmart™ mobile initiative and brings core gaming experiences to the mobile platform."
Confirmed specifications for M.O.J.O. include an NVIDIA Tegra4 T40S 1.8GHz Processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, HDMI out capabilities with full 1080p resolution, Bluetooth, microSD™ Flash Slot with support for SDXC Cards up to 128GB, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and the Android 4.2.2 operating system.
Unlike other Android powered consoles such as the OUYA, the M.O.J.O is not carrying its own ecosystem, and is meant to be used with several existing ones, such as the Google Play store and the Nvidia Tegra Zone.
The console's C.T.R.L.R. controller follows a traditional controller design but has a subset of interesting features. "C.T.R.L.R offers three different gaming modes and enhanced portability for where ever the game may take you. Here are some cool features of the C.T.R.L.R Mobile Gamepad:"
BLUETOOTH SMART – Play with lower latency and extended battery life and connect to other Bluetooth devices
MEDIA BUTTONS – Functions as a remote to control volume and playback of video and music
MOUSE MODE – Flip a switch to turn C.T.R.L.R into a mouse and use the left analog stick to control the onscreen cursor. Ideal for touchscreen interaction!
TRAVEL CLIP – Attach your phone or smart device to the C.T.R.L.R and game anywhere
The console is also meant to be a media hub, with support for external drives, (USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports), Netflix, Hulu, etc.
The M.O.J.O. is set to ship in limited quantities on December 10th and is priced at $250.
