Instead of the $20k MSRP, the 84LM9600 was going for $16,999.
Video & Audio Center in Lawndale, California, was the first retail location to get LG's new 84 inch UHDTV and that honor earned them quite a few visitors. Over 700 customers eager to check out the set lined up outside of the store, as did a few who were ready to drop the cash.
The store opened at noon and by 2:00, six of the UHD sets had already sold. Prospective buyers were very impressed when they got to see the new TV for the first time and were almost certainly thrilled to find that the $19,999 MSRP translated into a $16,999 street price.
Video & Audio Center did not comment as to the amount of UHD sets that they were stocking, nor have they revealed final sales numbers for the first day, but considering the massive investment that goes into buying one of these sets, six sales on the first day from a single store seems like a vote of confidence in 4K.
