The VLC Media Player is here, and not only that, it now adds new HD codecs, finer controls, and more!
The popular open source media player VLC just went live with version 1.0 promising even greater playback possibilities. The amazingly versatile VLC works on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and plays nearly every video file known to man. MKV? No problem. Raw Dirac? You got it. And with the release of 1.0, it also supports the high def formats AES3, Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD, Blu-ray Linear PCM, Real Video 3.0 and 4.0.
VLC is a free download, and an excellent way to view high definition content via a computer.
