LG says you'll get 360 degree sound like you would at a live concert or movie theater.
The folks at LG have a new home theater in a box on the way and it's actually looking pretty slick. It's a 9.1 channel setup so you're not stuck with a 5.1 like in most cases. It has a few other nice features, like an included 3D Blu-ray player, but the thing LG really wants to talk about is the sound.
The HX906TX uses a 3D effect DSP algorithm and Sound Field Technology to create what the company calls "an immersive 360-degree sound experience. It extends the sweet spot and even fills in empty space where there's no sound information.
LG's new system uses four upright speakers on top of the floorstanding speakers. They're designed to further help the 360-degree sound experience. "The HX906TX sets new standards in immersive entertainment, with a sound so rich and textured," says CEO Havis Kwon, "it's hard to believe it's not real."
They're not talking price yet, but don't expect the HX906TX to come cheap.
