It’s the world’s largest consumer OLED, and it’s only $2,700.
Alright, let’s put a little bit of a qualifier on the “only $2,700.” Sure, that’s a lot of money to spend on an incredibly small screen. Inch for inch though, it’s far cheaper than Sony’s foray into the OLED market.
LG’s 15EL9500 is a fifteen inch OLED screen that’s available now in the UK and it’s surprisingly affordable for an OLED. Compared to the Sony XEL-1, LG has created a very impressive set. It’s got a 720p resolution, 100Hz refresh rate, 0.1ms response time, and it’s pretty cool looking to boot. Let’s face it, aesthetics matter.
The new OLED also features a USB port for watching videos, though LG hasn’t said what codecs it supports. The spec sheet also touts the 15EL9500 as water resistant. Considering a 15 inch set would be right at home in the kitchen, that’s good to know.
The 15EL9500 is available now in the UK and will be hitting more of Europe in May. There’s no mention of a US release date yet.
