Once again the company goes far out of its way to help out a fan.
Last month, a young man - just 22 - named Michael John Mamaril was taken from his friends and family by cancer. He and his friend Carlo were incredibly big Borderlands fans and Carlo wanted to find a special way to pay tribute to his friend, so he wrote to Gearbox to see what they could do.
In response, Gearbox sent a touching eulogy voiced by the game's smartass mascot CL4P-TP, otherwise known as Claptrap. In addition, they're going to help Michael live on in memory by making him an NPC in the upcoming 'Borderlands 2.'
Whether you're a fan of Gearbox's games or not, there's something to be said for a company that is routinely going out of its way to help out fans and do something sweet. You may remember a similar moment from the company when they made a video to help a fan propose to his girlfriend.
