Responding to recent online reports suggesting a release date delay for 'Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer,' Fox Home Entertainment says all systems are go for the disc's Blu-ray bow next week.
The rumors first cropped up Tuesday when an independent retailer posted a message at blu-ray.com indicating an indeterminate delay for the highly anticipated release due to "manufacturing problems." That info quickly spread to AVSForums, and to our own forums area, where another indie retailer said he'd heard the same thing.
We contacted Fox for comment, and the official word from the studio is that there's no truth to the rumors, and that 'Silver Surfer' will release as planned next Tuesday, October 2nd.
First announced in late August, 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' anchors the studio's a hits-heavy Q4 line-up, following a months-long hiatus. The disc is set to hit Blu-ray packed with extras, including two exclusive interactive games (powered by BD-Java).
As we've previously reported, last week Fox confirmed the postponement of two previously-announced catalog titles for Blu-ray -- 'Master & Commander' and 'The Amityville Horror.' ('Master' has since been rescheduled for February 5th.)
