Celebrate Black History Month with another Tyler Perry film coming to Blu-ray this February.
In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate says 'For Colored Girls' is planned for high-definition on February 8.
The landmark film features a who's who of acting talent including Janet Jackson ('Why Did I Get Married Too?'), Loretta Devine (TV's "Grey's Anatomy"), Kimberly Elise (TV's "Grey's Anatomy"), Macy Gray ('Idlewild'), Thandie Newton ('2012'), Anika Noni Rose (TV's "The Good Wife"), Phylicia Rashad (TV's "The Cosby Show"), Tessa Thompson ('When A Stranger Calls'), Kerry Washington ('The Last King of Scotland') and Whoopi Goldberg ('The Color Purple').
Based on the collection of choreopoems by Ntozake Shange and the award-winning play, this powerhouse film weaves together the lives of nine women with a range of emotions, each speaking her truth.
Specs have yet to be revealed, but the release will be a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and supplements will include an original interactive documentary that looks at the origin and evolution of the stage play, a "making of the film" featurette, songs from the soundtrack and more.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $39.99.
